Hey, curl world! Recently, I watched a YouTube video about how to use banana clips to help add length to your hair, and I don’t think I can ever look at scrunchies the same way!
What are banana clips?
These clips originated in France during the 1970s that quickly spread to Europe and, of course, the United States.
Banana clips emerged in the 1980s and 1990s during the significant hair fashion era when people would tease their hair and use hot rollers. Banana clips are stemmed from the banana appearance that it has. The banana clip also complimented the neon fashion and loud clothing pieces that people enjoyed wearing for this period.
Take a look at the link below for a set of clips!
How to wear banana clips with curly hair
If you are a curly hair girl, you know that when it comes to working up or half up, half down looks, they can sometimes deflate our hair and make us lose that volume we take pride in. That is where banana clips come into place! You can put your hair up as though you would want to put it up in a ponytail, but instead of grabbing the scrunchie, grab your banana clip and wrap it around your hair and use the band to secure your hair in the back and allow your hair to fall back giving it a nice long ponytail look similar to what you see in my picture.
A nice half-up half-down look with the banana clip can be done if you put some of your hair up using the same methods you usually do when you need to put your hair up, and instead of putting on that scrunchie, wrap your hair with the banana clip and allow your hair to fall behind you as you have the length and the ideal updo that doesn’t impact your volume or cause shrinkage.
